Meet Bethany

Hi, I'm Bethany — a Specialist Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist with six years of experience across the NHS, special schools, mainstream schools, early years & speech sound clinics. I also completed a year-long posting in Hanoi developing children rehabilitation services

I’m experienced working with children & young people with Autism (inc. speaking & minimally/non speaking), ADHD, DLD, speech/language delay, Global Developmental Delay, PMLD, selective mutism, social communication differences, speech sound disorders, cerebral palsy and genetic conditions (inc. down syndrome, cri du chat syndrome, soto syndrome, joubert syndrome, pallister-killian syndrome and mosaic trisomy a syndrome).

My practice blends neurodiverse-affirming approaches (Gestalt Language Processing, DIR Floor time, Autism Level Up) with the evidence-based interventions families know and trust — low and high tech Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), early intervention with Parent-Child Interaction therapy, & language based interventions such as Colourful Semantics, Word Aware and narrative language interventions.

My job is to attune to their communication and support the next steps in their development."

What I offer

My Services

For families

Assessment and therapy happens in the spaces your child actually lives — at home, in nursery, or in school. No strange rooms, no pressure. Just support that fits around your family.

For schools

Commissions of half or full days of dedicated speech and language support, shaped entirely around your school. From 1:1 therapy and small group sessions to assessing, upskilling staff and planning with teachers — happy to support however is needed.

For local authorities

I partner with Local Authorities to support children and young people with communication needs — making sure the provision in every EHCP is not just written, but delivered. From assessments and therapy programmes to staff training and MDT collaboration, I cover the full picture. Clear, timely and always centred on the child.

How we'll work together

From first call to lasting progress

1

Initial chat

A free 20-minute call — by phone or video. You share what's on your mind; I share how I might help. No pressure, just direction.

2

Assessment

A gentle, play-based session to build a full picture of your child's strengths and where they need a hand. You receive a clear written report.

3

Therapy

Weekly or fortnightly sessions at home, nursery, or school — with goals we shape together. EHCP advice available on request.

4

Review

Every six weeks we step back, celebrate progress, and reshape goals. Therapy ends when your child — and you — feel ready.

1

Scoping call

A free conversation to understand your school's needs, priorities, and the children you'd like me to support.

2

School visit

I come to you. Observing children in their own environment — classroom, playground, small group — gives me a much richer picture than any clinic setting.

3

Delivery

1:1 therapy, small group sessions, staff upskilling, and joint planning with teachers — shaped around what your school actually needs.

4

Debrief

A written summary with clear recommendations and next steps, so progress continues long after the commission ends.

1

Initial call

A conversation with the commissioning team to understand the child's needs, current provision, and what you're looking for from me.

2

Referral & brief

I review the EHCP and any existing reports, agree scope and timeline with the commissioning team, and flag any gaps early.

3

Assessment/Provision

I offer both as separate products. Assessment delivers a clear, timely report to inform EHCP outcomes. Provision covers therapy delivery, staff training, and MDT collaboration.

4

Sign-off

Progress report with updated EHCP recommendations, ready for annual review. Clear, evidenced, and always centred on the child.

FAQ

Questions you might have

I'd advise checking your child's age against the early years milestones. If they have been delayed in hitting their speech and language milestones or you're not sure, a conversation is worth having.
Yes — this is a core part of my practice. I'm trained in Gestalt Language Processing, intensive interaction, DIR floor time, Makaton and both low- and high-tech AAC implementation. My approach is neurodiverse-affirming: we celebrate the way your child communicates and add tools that expand what's already there.
Wherever your child is most themselves. That might be your sitting room, their nursery, their school, or by video. I travel across East London and the City; further afield by arrangement.
Yes. Authoring EHCP advice for local authorities is a regular part of my work.
It's a strength, not a barrier. I spent two years supporting bilingual children at international schools in Hanoi and work routinely with families speaking two or three languages at home. We'll build a plan that honours every language in your child's world.
Initial discovery calls are always free. Assessment and therapy fees are shared transparently after our first chat, so we can match the right package to your child's needs. A limited number of sliding-scale spaces are reserved each term.
I can provide weekly or fortnightly sessions, half-termly visits or one off assessments whenever required.
Expert witness work isn't something I currently offer.
Assessment figures out what's going on and why. Therapy is the ongoing work that follows. Sometimes families just need an assessment and some guidance, others move straight into regular sessions. We'll work out what's right for your child together.
Not at all. Sessions are led by your child's interests and comfort — there's no pressure to perform or sit at a table. Building trust comes first, everything else follows.
Yes, I see children and young people from 18 months to 18 years. Older children often need a different approach and I'm used to working in ways that feel relevant and respectful to them.
Get in touch and I'll let you know current availability. I'll always try to be upfront about waiting times.
No, you can contact me directly. Self-referrals from families, schools and local authorities are all welcome.

What families are saying

Real words from parents and clinicians who have worked alongside the practice.

Bethany met our son exactly where he was — no pressure, no chart-checking. Within three months he was asking for "more bubbles" and our whole evening routine had softened.

Her EHCP advice was the clearest, most child-centred we received from any clinician. It changed the conversation with our local authority entirely.

As a SENCo I've worked with many SLTs — Bethany stands out for genuinely embedding in the school team. The strategies stick because the staff feel part of them.

Our daughter went from a handful of words to full sentences over a year. The bilingual support was the piece nobody else thought to offer.
